Hello Sarah!
I saw that you were in my hometown today (Chattanooga, TN) and was hoping for some listing of public appearances. Although I didn't get to meet you I am so happy for the people you did meet and sign autographs. Thank You so much for visiting and maybe you will consider making a public appearance here for fans in the future! Best Wishes on the upcoming season and I hope you are blessed in all you do!

Response from Coca-Cola. Maybe they should consider IRL!

Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company. We appreciate the opportunity to respond and your patience while I've looked into this.

It appears that you've heard one of many rumors that circulate about who we may or may not sponsor. Most of our motorsports involvement is through the NHRA & NASCAR and drivers in those organizations.

Although I didn't find any connection, the independently-operated bottlers make many of their own marketing decisions, of which we are not always aware. With as many bottlers as there are, we simply do not have a way to know if one of them has entered into such an agreement.

If you have any additional comments or questions, please feel free to contact us again. Best wishes!

Dear Ms. Sarah Fisher,

My name is Fernando, I'm brazilian engineer and I always watch the IRL seasons by TV in Brazil. You are a excellent driver, and I'm your fan. I have two questions:
1) Do you believe that you can win Indianapolis 500 and IRL season next year?
2) Would you like to compete in Formula One?

Best regards,
Fernando

I'm pryaing for Tony Renna's family. It's very hard tolearn of the death of a driver, a few days after Kenny Brack's crash. I hope that somethimng will be done to make IRL more safer. These are the risks of this sport, but after Greg Moore, Dale Earnhardt and Tony Renna, CART, NASCAR and IRL drivers died in the last four years : it's too much

The fact that Kenny Brack is alive is a testiment to the safety of the Indy car. It is the speed that is the killer. No matter how well you design safety into the race car it will eventually be overcome by the speeds.

Speeds will also defeat the drivers reaction time. I read recently that an Indy car was tested at 232 mph. I don't have an answer but speed is one of the marketing promotions of Indy racing. If you take the speed out of Indy racing you might as well go to the road course. The dilemma is that road course racing in the USA is not a media event. NASCAR wins.

Ms. Fisher, in light of the Brack and Renna catastrophes, you drivers need to take action and DEMAND that those IRL cars be redesigned to be much safer than they are now. You have the clout to get the ball rolling. Sir Jackie Stewart got part of the job done in the 70's, now someone needs to step up to the plate to get the rest of the job done now. I think Paul Tracy is correct in his assessment of the IRL cars. They are "crap wagons."

Posted a note before I read some of your fan mail, and must say am surprised I missed seeing your rumored potential of going to Panther. Like many other fans, I see many things that point to you being short changed, in house. I'll start the rumor that you are being looked at by a very large company, who wants you to do better, and 2004 will find you "positioned" in IRL like never before. Saw you in the Midgets at Columbus, Ohio, and I think I can tell when I see a "driver". Surprising was the lack of show with the new Chevy, but am more sure than ever things are not right with the IRL car. The Texas race shows you still have the talent, but it's hard to "carry" an IRL race car. Wish sometimes I would have stayed in Road Racing, wrenching, which would have got me into CART, and to IRL. Would have been happy to be part of your team. Hope Texas was step one toward a better year in 2004.

Sure looked like you were just "hanging out" at the Texas race. Then all of a suddden you gained several spots, and not all due to pit stops by the other cars. Curious, where do you think you would have finished, if not for the caution, and the race cut short? Hope 2004 brings you a "new" in house setup.

Luv your post - no doubt we should start our emails to COKE & BURGER KING. Sarah deserves better.

C.J. Sparks - I agree with your thoughts. I appreciate that D&R hired Sarah now I hope that Sarah, if offered the opportunity, moves on to a more competitive team without looking back. This is a business and if Robbie Buhl is the mentor that Sarah says he is then he will give her his encouragement and blessing.

Even if the IRL eventually fails Sarah will get the stepping stone she deserves so she can have other options with her career in auto racing.

The IRL needs Sarah Fisher because she is a first rate act and good for the sport of motor racing.

Awesome run yesterday, Sarah. Any fan (and any potential major sponsor) can see that you run with "the big dogs" when given the right equipment. You had a great run in the middle of the race when you stayed out under yellow for track position - you were right with (actually AHEAD of) the two Penske cars until their horsepower edge began to take over. Good luck in the off season. I hope the Panther deal comes through. (I know you came up through the open-wheel ranks, but DAMN, after seeing the Brack wreck I'd seriously consider NASCAR if I were you!) --gs

Here's an interesting article from ESPN- should we be writing Coke and Burger King? A three-car Panther? The Pennzoil Panther team made it official Saturday afternoon -- as expected Tomas Scheckter is replacing Sam Hornish next season.

But Scheckter could have as many as two teammates in 2004.

Burger King and Coke are seriously considering sponsoring Sarah Fisher next year and Panther is the leading candidate to take the IRL's most popular driver if that happens.

Also, it's believed that Pennzoil is contemplating a second car for Al Unser Jr., who wants to run one more year before retiring. The two-time Indy winner will no longer be paid a $4 million salary by Tony George and won't be back for a third year with Kelley Racing.

Unser has also contacted Patrick Racing about returning to CART competition.

The rumor in the IRL paddock is that John Menard is selling his equipment to either Richcard Childress/Robby Gordon or Panther Racing but would stay on as a sponsor. Asked Saturday, Menard responded with a laugh: "Let's go with Robby Gordon. Yeah, that's what everybody thinks." Then, the billionaire lumber magnet said: "Let's just get through this season."
  October 12, 2003
Diana
Can the board help out with the rumor mill? In two days I have heard three very different quotes- the Star indicating you have no money for next year. And RPM2Day indicating some major sponsors were negotiating with Panther to bring you in to the fold as a third car. Then there's the rumor you and DRR are trying to stick together. I write your sponsors often. So should I be writing Coke?

As the year comes to a close, I find myself more frustated than last year.

Sarah...you should take pride in the way you handle yourself, in a manner that many others could not begin to be the role model that you are to many young fans. Your representation of the IRL has no doubt helped renew interest in the series. You deserve to be right up there with the top runners, able to compete with the best, with the funding and equipment it takes to succeed. You deserve the same as any other driver. You came up through the ranks just like they did, just as successful, and even more deserving considering the adversities you have had to endure. You have handled yourself in a positive, professional manner. As your fan, my support will always be with you.

Sure, the funding has been there for Sarah to participate, but I question whether the funding is there to compete. From the business side, I believe the clear objective of D&R is to make sure that the co-owner/driver is the primary driver. Unfortunately, it seems Sarah is getting short changed both financially and on the track.

Realizing this is more than just a sport, it is a business. What bothers me the most is that the "bang for the buck" has been with Sarah. In just this year, her presence in promoting the IRL far exceeds many, many other drivers.

Sarah has proven that she has the ability to compete, but obviously there are limited resources flowing to this part of the team. I find it odd that Robbie's ride continues to improve, but Sarah seems to be at a stand still. Though Sarah has sponsors on her car, where does the funding go? Is she getting her fair share?

Even more troublesome is the direction of the IRL. Just a decade ago, Tony George chose to equalize the competition so even the low-budget teams could compete. Today, it looks like we are back to square one with a few big dollar teams dominating.

Concerning sponsorship in 2004. As I talk to other IRL fans, it is apparent that women are becoming more and more interested in racing, mainly because we have someone from our side of the world to follow. Many women have caught the fever. We are the consumer watchdog for the family. It is our attention you are trying to get when advertising. Not only are we the consumer but we contribute/spend our hard earned dollars purchasing your products. It's time to fully fund Sarah in her quest to the best IRL driver she can be. Don't just use her to promote the IRL series, pay the bucks needed to let her compete with the top teams.

I got this off of the "Panther" Web site.

"This is from Curt Cavin's latest question and answer session on the IRL.

From IndyStar.com:

Question: I understand that Sarah Fisher is close to signing with Dreyer and Reinbold next year with the same GMAC/AOL backing. Is this true and does that mean she and Robbie will be in the IRL full-time in 04? (John from Indianapolis)

Answer: I flew to Texas today with Sarah Fisher and we chatted about 2004. She didn't sound very optimistic. Actually, she sounded less than that. "I don't have any money," she said."

To Sarah Fisher fans: Forget the platitudes and start writing the sponsers!!! If you wait till after the season I am sure that decisions will have already been made for 2004.

By emailing PUREX you are defaulted to the DIAL site. Interesting thing about the "PUREX" site. It only mentions the "PUREX" sponsership of Robbie Buhl and #24. No mention of Sarah. It appears that PUREX is only a one car sponser. I can see Sarah on a liquid detergent container but Robbie Buhl??? --- Doesn't do it for me. This isn't really stereotyping but just looking at the practical side of marketing. With this sponser I think women would identify with Sarah rather than with Robbie.

Hello Sarah,

I understand that you met my son this passed weekend at the SIRA go-kart races at Linton, IN. His name is Cody, he is nine, and he had won the Rookie division. He treasures his trophy that you signed. I am sorry that I didn't get to meet you as well. I had gone home with our eight-year-old daughter, Courtney, after Cody was through racing. When my husband, Troy, and Cody came home and told me they had seen you, we got on the internet to learn more about you. I was amazed when I saw that you were raised in Commercial Point. I grew up in Robtown, which is just a couple of miles south of there on SR 316. There is only a church, an old one-room school, and a couple of houses there, so I wouldn't blame you if you don't know what I am talking about. But if you do, I lived in the two-story brick farm house on the North side of the highway. I was also a Viking, but I think I had graduated before you started Kindergarten. I graduated in 1985. The junior high, where your m! om works wasn't even in operation yet. You may know my neice and nephew however, Zachary and Maggie Frank. There mother,Regina, my sister, used to be the "Ashville doctor" before she passed away some years ago. What a small world! Anyways, my question for you, is how do we get Cody hooked up with any larger sponsors? We have about eight local sponsors from Linton, but as much as we appreciate them, they don't do much for our racing budget. Cody seems to have a gift for racing and that is not just coming from the proud parents. He has caught the eye of many racers and fans. He won almost all of his races when he was in the "kid kart" division and he took the Second-Place points championship last year and the First-Place points championship this year at our local dirt oval track, Bakersfield Raceway. He has raced three races with the SIRA this year and won all three by a fine margin. His kart is legal!
We plan on keeping him in go-karts for a few more years, but eventually we would like to let him move up to Sprints. What is a good route for this? Does he need to get on a traveling circuit such as SIRA or an equivalent? Or can we just remain local and just enter him in a few events around the country? What looks best on a resume when soliciting sponsorhip? We would greatly appreciate any suggestions you could give us.

Thanks for your time and for your continued interest in go-kart racing.

I wrote "Aventis" and got back an auto response e'mail. I had asked about increasing product identification which could justify more support (sales = money) for the team. They wrote back about Robbie Buhl's role as their rep for their Good Health for Childred program. That's fine but it shows they don't have a clue about promoting a race team.
