Satuday, August 23, 2003 At 4:48 p.m., during the final practice session. Sarah spun to the left in Turn 3 and hit the outside retaining wall with the left rear of the car. The car suffered heavy damage to the rear and moderate damage to the front wing and suspension. Medical update from Dr. Henry Bock, director of medical services for the Indy Racing League: Sarah is awake and alert. She was transported via air to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, Pa. for evaluation of back pain. We will keep you updated. You can sign Sarah's guestbook if you want to wish her a speedy recovery! Sarah qualified with a speed 166.170 for a row 6th 12th position start next to teammate Robbie Buhl (11th) "We didn't practice for a qualifying setup yesterday, and today a clutch line mishap prevented us from getting any warm up in. We then had a slight communication problem in qualifying laps, so we had to run with our first lap out. Still, confidence took the wheel today, and we're sitting on a lap speed of 166.170 mph. We started here last year at 19th, and finished fourth, so we'll just see what tomorrow brings. Otherwise, this is a handling track, and we're still a little loose coming out of Turn 2. Here, setup counts for a lot more, so we have to all work together. We'll work on setup the rest of today, and with some history under our belts with the new engine, we'll see what we can get out of the gate with tomorrow." |

Pre-Race Quote “We look forward to seeing what another week of working with our new engine will bring. We had some fast laps in Kentucky, and we’re looking for faster laps in Nazareth. This is the race that I first ran with Dreyer & Reinbold in the No. 24 car, subbing for Robbie Buhl. This week, the No. 23 car is back to race and racing to win at Nazareth Speedway.” |
