SARAH TO SHOW IRL SUPPORT AT HOMESTEAD |
|
INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 26, 2002 -- Sarah Fisher will see
the first race of the 2002 IRL season at Homestead-Miami Speedway from a
different perspective than in the past - not behind the wheel of her
racecar, but in the pits. Sarah finished in 2nd place at the inaugural IRL
event race in Homestead just one year ago, her best finish in the series
to-date, and has participated in every IRL event up to now, but lack of team
sponsorship is keeping her out of the driver's seat this weekend. "It will
be bittersweet to be at Homestead and not be in the racecar," said Sarah.
"But I believe it's important to show my interest in the IRL by being at the
racetrack. I can still learn a lot at Homestead even though I won't be in
the car by watching the other drivers and teams on the track, and who knows,
maybe a potential sponsor may be at the speedway!" Sarah was voted the IRL's
most popular driver in 2001 and has been featured on many national
television programs in her past two seasons in the series, including The
Tonight Show with Jay Leno, NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw, Regis and
Kelly, Good Morning America, The Other Half, ABC Evening News, CBS This
Morning and HBO's Real Sports. She has also been featured in many national
magazines including People, Teen People, Glamour, Cosmo Girl, Seventeen,
Sports Illustrated, ESPN Magazine, and hundreds of national and regional
newspaper stories. Sarah will be a participant in the IRL's autograph
session on Mar. 1 at 5:15 p.m. The session will take place in the garage
area at Homestead-Miami Speedway. She will also receive the Most Popular
Driver trophy from the IRL Crew during pre-race ceremonies on Saturday. Lisa Sommers, Manager, SF Racing. |
